The Federated Church of Sycamore
Transformation. Healing. Growth. New Life. They sound nice, don't they?
What they all have in common, however, is that they take place "in the wilderness." That is, in those seasons of life when we are in transition, when our faith or life falls apart: like a global pandemic; getting married or divorced; becoming a parent or having a child come out as LGBTQ+; moving to a new city or losing a job; the death of a loved one. As Richard Rohr reminds us, all transformation takes place here--in these seasons, "in the wilderness." This Lenten sermon series explores what it might mean for us to embrace these wilderness journeys so that God can transform us through them, rather than wishing to "return to the way things were," or thinking we can jump ahead to the other side of them.
